The Winter Sparkle

The days are getting colder, but the hearts of the young ones grow warmer. Hot chocolate in hand, they run out the door. The snow is a intriguing sight to see for the children.  Their giggling rings through the air as they play tag around the yard, all bundled in their winter coats. Bounding through the snow, they plop on the ground, shivering and waving their arms and legs back and forth. Something beautiful is made in the florescent white snow. Happiness. There is a little frosted white angel. The sun goes down and their mother calls them inside for dinner. The children prance inside, anticipating the next time they can return to their beloved snow.

Broken

Poem inspired by sculpture at M.A.M

Broken
But still standing
Shattered
But still in tact
Innocent
But not at all
Those tiny cracks
Are bound to break
One nick
And it could be the end
Surrounded in the innocence of people around her
No one knows pain like she does
She seems so pure
With every smile
With every laugh
That slips past her lips
She wants to be remembered as the girl
That could brighten everyone's day
Even if she could not brighten her own

Safe and Sound

I want to go to sleep
Now
I want to go to sleep
Be Safe and sound
So when I wake up
There is a possibility that I will be out of This Night Mare
Sleep.
It is My World Of Magic
It’s the only place I can be at rest
It's the only place that nothing can hurt me
It's the only place I can be hppy
It is the only place I can escpe
Without closing my eyes for ever.

A Voice for the Hurt

High school is supposed to be a fun, new, and exciting experience. The novel Speak is explains the life of a social outcast named Melinda and her struggles to fit in the high school. She doesn’t have any true friends seeing no one stayed around long enough to hear her story. This book was written by Laurie Halse Anderson and throughout the novel Melinda shows her emotional discomfort through actions, instead of speaking out. In the end she speaks up for herself and she finds a happier state of being.
In the beginning of the novel Melinda enters high school being shunned by all of her old friends. Even people she has never met before all because she called the cops at a party at the beginning of the summer. Melinda hides her feelings and doesn’t speak out about what really happened that night. Instead of speaking she silences herself by her actions. An example of this is how she constantly bites her lips. The fist example of this is right in the beginning of the
novel when Melinda’s ex best friend mouths “I hate you,” to her from across the room. Melinda bit her lip and tried not to think about it (Anderson 5). She continues to do this to remind herself to stay silent throughout the novel.
Melinda silences herself many other ways too. One of the most intense ways of this is when she cut herself with a paper clip. She says, “I open up the paper clip and scratch it across my left wrist. Pitiful. If suicide is a cry for help, then what is this? A whimper, a peep? (Anderson 65)”   When her mom sees the cuts all she says is that she doesn’t have time to deal with it. This shows how Melinda is trying to speak through cutting herself doesn’t help. Her mom doesn’t care. Her whimper for help is not heard.
At the end of the novel Melinda finds a happier state of being when she decides to finally talk. There are many factors that lead her to speak. Such as opening up to Mr. Freeman about what happened because “when people don’t express themselves, they die one piece at a time.” It was about time because now she could get past the party and move on with the rest of her life.

The Devil In Disguise

Losing sleep
Counting sheep
Closing eyes
Lullabies
I am losing sleep think about him
But why him you may ask?
I have no clue
But I am having flashbacks
Flashbacks to that one night
He rode his bike in my neighborhood to see me
Told me to look out my window
My stomach filled with butterflies
(I have obviously been eating too many of those)
But he was standing there
Underneath the street light
He looked like an angel with the light shining upon him
But he is far from that
I regret hesitating
My mind was thinking go
But there was a big red light flashing
DANGER DANGER
The red light was right
It was dangerous to go outside
Good thing I didn't
Because he could have pulled me into his trap
Like a magnet
He wasted my time
He's a devil in disguise
The only time I saw him was at night
In the storm
Lightning and thunder
Never in the light
Probably because if he was exposed to sunlight
It would be a starling sight to see
For he
Is the devil in disguise
:3 mehehehhhahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things Happen for a Reason

A cold November night
The air is frigid
And frosty is chilling her toes to the bone
The wind slides past her face
Numbing her ears and nose
She sits on the table
Waiting for their return
The seconds turn to minutes
And the minutes feel like hours
With misery storming through her mind
The flashbacks start
Her heart goes numb
And she is deprived of all hope
The dream of what they could have been
She drags herself home
With only the dim light
From the flickering street lights
She looks up to the stars
Hoping to find some sort of relief
A shooting star, something
But as her eyes gaze up higher and higher
The only thing she sees is clouds
She thinks to herself
"don’t cry now, wait, wait till you get inside"
Step by step she inches closer to warmth
This is the longest walk she has ever taken
Although in reality
She was only a block away
Only a few more steps
Until she can be safe at last
She stumbles onto the door  step
Takes a deep breath
And reaches for the door
Her finger tips touch the cold metal door knob
She takes a step inside and collapses on the ground
Curled up into a ball of comfort
She feels safe physically
But mentally, she's a mess
Tears cascade down her face
How could she fall for him?!
She is disgusted with herself
The pain pierces a hole through her chest
And her heart shatters
They say follow your heart
But when it is in so many pieces
Which way are you to go?

AbsolutleyUnattainable

Explaining why I like him
Is like explaining how water tastes
Its completely impossible
No matter which way I look at it
I don't know why I like him

Maybe it’s the way he makes me feel
Maybe it’s the way he makes me laugh
Maybe, just maybe
It's because
Everyone always wants what they can't have

My friends say he's horrible
And they advise me about him
But I just sit there feeling awkward
And no matter what they say
It is impossible for me to stop thinking about him.

They warn me he is only going to break my heart
Maybe so
I may be one of the dumbest people in the world
For simply falling for this guy
So in the end, explaining why I like him
Is like explaining how water tastes
Completely impossible.

Lost Love

 A girl
 Waiting
 Waiting to feel something
Something that could change her life
 Through rain
 Through shine
 Through snow
 Through sleet
She sits on a filthy, aged curb side
 Nothing.
 She feels nothing
 She doesn't feel frost
 She doesn't feel warmth
 She doesn't feel hate
 She doesn't feel love
 Her soul is non-existent
Just like the love she felt years ago
 Day by day
 Month by month
 Year by year
 She never moves
 She waits for him
To come back to the curb were they met
Maybe someday when he is missing her
He will come back to the place
 Where they met
 For the first time

You In My Heart

So today I went to the doctor
I walked into his office and got an x-ray
And they found something in my heart

It was you
The doctor said that this isn't normal
But he also said that he can't take you out
The only way to take you out would be to break my heart
I don’t want to die of a broken heart

So now you see?
I cannot live without you

Just Live Your Life

Make memories you won't forget,
Live your life to the fullest

Do whatever you want to
And have no regrets

Because once you have regrets
Your life will never let it go

In the end
You did everything for a reason

So have fun while you can
--You won't  live forever.--

Shadows of the Leaves of the Trees

It was calm in the cafĂ©. There was no sound in the air but the hum of the older and younger waiter behind the counter and the sloshing of the old man’s drink. The old man asks for another, but the young waiter rejects him. No more drinks for the old man tonight. He leaves the money on the table, and walked out the door. Those two waiters watched as the lonely old man walked shakily down the street and disappeared into the darkness. In the short story 'A Clean, Well Lighted Place' by Ernest Hemmingway, the old man lives in "the shadows of the leaves of the trees".

The man is living by himself, in a life full of sorrow. He wasn’t just born with this life of alcoholism and depression; it developed over the years of him living in "the shadows of the leaves of the trees". Memories last a long time, and they keep growing and growing through out the years, like trees. People that were close to him, family and friends, left him, just like leaves, seeing leaves come and go. The old man lives in the shadows of his memories of friends and family. From day to day, the pain he has to face throughout his life with no one to love or care for him. So everyday, he is left with that reminder that those are the people he lost and he lives in the darkness of his past. What "the shadows of the leaves of the trees" means, is the depression of his past memories of loved ones, has affected him with the way he lives in life.

His memories have affected his life in many ways. It is a dark place to be living in the shadows, but the old man feels like a shadow. Imagine how that feels. No one knows who you really are. The old man won't go asleep in the dark, nor does he like the dark, because the old man feels that he will be even less noticed then he already is. He have to go to sleep in the light, because of the shadows that the old man casts. Shadows, cannot cast another shadow, so being in the light, it reassures them that people know who they are, because you can't judge a person by their shadow. Seeing shadows have no depth, no feelings; they look like the person, but they aren't.

Living in the shadows of his past, the old man feels that the best way to deal with it, is by drinking the sorrow away. After all, he feels like he isn't noticed without his family and friends.. Maybe when he wakes in the morning people will no who he is, but for now, all he can do is hope.

Patriotic

Love and devotion to the country in which we live. Does it matter? If you aren't patriotic, what can they do about it? For sure they cannot send you away from out country. Everyone has their own beliefs and opinions. thats what the United States of America is all about. Freedom of Speech. So before we go off, talking about whether or not patriotism is important, what do you think, because you opinion matters.

You can close your eyes to things you don't want to see
You can close your ears to thing you don't want to hear
And you could close your mouth
To things you do not want to say
But the one thing you can't close
Is your heart...
You can't close it from things you don’t want to feel.
It's impossible
You can try all you want
But you will ultimatley fail
It is impossible to not feel something your heart wants to
Because even though it's on your left.
It is always right.

School Is Fun :P

It's just one of those do nothing days where all you want to do is sit around your house and do nothing but sit on the couch, lean back and watch a little TV while eating your favorite lunch. Ramen noodles. Not just any ramen noodles, but that Muchan Ramen Noodles that are chicken flavored and come in the little orange package. But no, instead of living the life of laziness, I am at school to get an "education". When will 4x+7(4+8) ever benefit me in the future. I would be fine if ALL the things we learned would make my future better, but for the things I want to do when I grow up, it doesn't involve being able to turn on a Bunsen Burner correctly.
Some classes are just so boring, its not like I am learning anything anyways seeing I'm not even paying attention. All you do is sit in cold plastic chairs that make your butt go numb. Oh yea, and you have to get up at an un-Godly hour in the morning, just so you can make it to school on time. Not only do we want to be still sleeping, but we all especially do NOT want to start thinking that early. I mean, whose great idea of this "fun filled day of excitement" was this? Not eating till 12:30, getting up early, no comfy couches, and not being able to talk to friends. I personally think life in school is torture.

Best Friends?

Its crazy how one person can change another's world
You tell me you’re my best friend
You talk behind my back
And now you deny it.
How can you be so heartless, so fake.

And you thought I wouldn’t find out
Oh boy were you wrong
But thanks to you,
You did do me a favor in the end.
You showed me who my real friends are
And you showed me who your aren’t

I can't say I don’t care
Because we were so close
I trusted you with EVERYTHING I said
Id tell you one thing and you would totally understand
But you toyed with my emotions
So its over.
